If While season 3 of Euphoria will be HBO’s last show (at the time of publishing this article, nothing has been confirmed), it’s definitely arriving with a bang and sparing no expense with A-list cameos. It stars Lexie’s showrunner boss Patty Lance, played by Sharon Stone; the shiny neck brace-wearing stripper Magic of the Silver Slipper, played by Rosalia; Alamo Brown’s henchman G, played by former NFL pro Marshawn Lynch; Brown’s mother, played by Danielle Deadwyler; Trisha Paytas as herself; And this week’s notable introduction features a flashback with Colman Domingo’s Ali, an intelligent prostitute played by Natasha Lyonne.

Lyonne’s role in Sam Levinson’s gritty drama has been kept a secret since her casting was announced last October. Even representatives from HBO remained tight-lipped on details in the days leading up to the episode’s release on Sunday. When we spoke to Leone two weeks ago, it wasn’t surprising that the actress, writer, director and producer were also tight-lipped for fear of entering spoiler territory. But that didn’t stop Lyonne, who was headed to Cannes the next morning, from revealing to Who What Wear the fun and serendipitous story behind how her busy guest role came to be.

On meeting Levinson and preparing his guest appearance Excitement Season 3:

I met Sam at Colman Domingo’s private dinner for (his film) rustinAnd we immediately shut it down. We spent the time after dinner sitting on a small sofa in the exact same area. Sam is fantastic, and we have a lot of touchpoints that basically make us double over laughing. By the end of the story, it became a running joke between me, Coleman, and Sam for probably a year how important it was that Coleman and I got a chance to do this this season. Excitement. But it made no sense. None of us thought this was actually happening. It was definitely a running joke between the three of us over text messages for a year, and then all of a sudden, I got a text from Sam saying, “Okay, it’s going to happen next week, Natasha.” And it was just like, “Okay, sure, Sam. I’ll see you there.”

Natasha Lyonne was photographed by Andrew Arthur for Who What Wear. She is sitting on a clear foldout chair wearing a one-shoulder pinstripe blazer, black bra top and pinstripe trousers.

On her friendship with Colman Domingo:

Colman Domingo, the little love of my life. I consider Colman Domingo a top-notch colleague. Coleman is so incredible at putting on these events where he really takes care of his life and the people on his team. We all became very close because I was seeing Matthew at the time, and I, Matthew, (Domingo’s partner) Raul and Coleman decided to go to Puerto Vallarta for the holidays. We celebrated the New Year together. This was during Covid, and we rented this house. It was the funniest and sweetest thing you’ve ever seen, and we became true lifelong friends from that vacation.

That short journey led to a lot of journeys together, like (Domingo’s script) Nat King Cole (biopic) Unforgettable), For example. I remember he had it open on his laptop and we both were working on a lot of things. We were also watching this documentary on Phil Tippett because I was about to start writing with one of ours, Alice Ju Russian doll Writer, episode featuring Nick Nolte poker face. It was just like we were at the right turn All There was a feeling in the air in that house about these amazing things that were about to happen, and Coleman and I. We talked about it too, that it would be such a calm before the storm. Since we’re both really traveling, living people in this industry, we’ll have moments from time to time, but we’ve been working here the whole time. We truly share a love for humans. It doesn’t matter how high or low the scale is, it doesn’t matter.
