The shortage of memory chips that power AI data centers has been making headlines for months. Samsung Galaxy price hike in Europe really depends on your pocket.
Greek tech outlet Techmaniax reports that Samsung is planning a European price hike Starting from the first week of June. The Galaxy S series, Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and FE models are all reportedly on the list. Flagship prices will increase by at least €100, with higher-storage versions potentially costing up to €200.
Memory shrinks behind numbers
The driver is the consumer memory chip shortage that analysts have been warning about for some time. The AI industry’s demand for high-bandwidth RAM has redirected manufacturing capacity toward data centers. As a result, the supply of chips that go into smartphones has tightened. Samsung’s mobile chief confirmed earlier this year that RAM shortage and material costs had affected the launch price of the Galaxy S26. The same squeeze is now coming to the phones already in the shops.
The price hike of Samsung Galaxy has already quietly affected America. In April, Samsung increased the prices of the Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, S25 FE, and S25 Edge without any announcement. Nearly every Galaxy tablet in the lineup also saw a price increase, with some rising by more than $200 for higher-storage variants.
Earlier this year, Samsung made headlines for keeping the prices of the Galaxy S26 stable. The base S26 seemed to dodge the pricing bullet just a few months ago. This increase in June is not a new device being launched at a higher price. They’re the same phones, just with new price tags.
The average price of a smartphone in Europe has already reached a record €580 this year. Analysts have warned that other manufacturers will also not lag behind Samsung in this matter. Samsung has not yet confirmed the European price change.
