Royal fans celebrate four years since Kate and William parted ways Top Gun: Maverick London premiere with Tom Cruise.
It was one of the rare occasions when the British royal family issued a statement on the release of a Hollywood film as future king and queen Prince William and Kate Middleton were prominent among those who attended the premiere with Tom Cruise.
Fans shared videos of the royal couple with Cruise as they commemorated the premiere of the film which grossed $1.496 billion globally, making it one of the highest-grossing films in history.
Prince William and Kate Middleton “attended the UK premiere of Top Gun: Maverick in London’s Leicester Square,” a royal family statement released at the time said.
“The premiere was hosted by Paramount Pictures and The Film & TV Charity and was the 72nd Royal Film Performanceâ„¢ given by the charity in its nearly 100-year history.”
The charity is an organization that supports thousands of people working behind the scenes in the UK film and television industry. This was especially evident during the pandemic when charities stepped up to help people, many of whom lost their livelihoods.
“Her Royal Highness was welcomed by the Lord Lieutenant and CEO of the Film and TV Charity at Leicester Square before taking to the red carpet. She was then introduced to the film’s cast, including Tom Cruise and Miles Teller.”
The Prince and Princess of Wales then met with film studio executives, including director Joe Kosinski and representatives of The Film & TV Charity. They were presented with poses and programs before entering the auditorium to watch the film.
