Chasing the discovery of millions of ounces of gold

Cameron shared the company’s history, its pivot from lithium and current focus on gold exploration. They touted the potential of Targa’s flagship asset Opinaca in Quebec’s James Bay region and the ongoing drill program at the El Zanzon gold-silver project in Santa Cruz, Argentina.

Cameron explains the strategy and potential of mining with a proven history of exploration versus mining without any history.

“When you’re doing mineral exploration you’re achieving two things and people only talk about one of them. People talk about what you find but in exploration you’re also determining what’s not there. So you’re reducing the potential of what you can find; reducing the potential of the project.”

“But when we start work on big grassroots projects like Opinaca and El Zanzon, there is no history of exploration and drilling, so there is nothing on the ‘what’s not there’ list. That keeps the optimism high and the ability to make these big multi-million ounce discoveries is still there.”

“Companies drilling on older assets with exploration history have the potential to find gold. Because a lot of the areas have already been drilled, they have the potential to make multi-million ounce discoveries, which is exciting. But what really moves the needle in the market is multi-million ounce discoveries. We have the potential to make these types of discoveries on the assets we are working on at Targa.”
