There’s some talk on social media that the “next-gen” Galaxy AI features on the Galaxy S25 we received this month won’t be what we can expect.
Rumors are going around this week, thanks for a post By Tarun Vatsa, who claims Samsung’s next update could introduce more Galaxy AI features on the S25 (via). sammobile). Like most companies, Samsung works on monthly security patches for its supported devices. Watts claims that the Korean OEM’s June update could bring two missing Galaxy AI features: priority and summary notifications.
The post reminds users that these two features are available on the Galaxy S26 series; however, They were not included in the One UI 8.5 patch for the S25. Even Vats himself suggests being cautious about this leak, as it may or may not happen next month. Users were quick to react to the rumors asking if something similar would affect the Galaxy S24 series.
While One UI 8.5 has made its way into that two-year-old series, Watts says there’s “no information” as to whether it will support priority and summary notifications on the S24. Interestingly, Galaxy S25 users may get an improved fingerprint reader experience. One user asked If the “Improve accuracy” option for fingerprints (available on the S26) will affect the S25. “I think it will be added as well,” Watts said while speculating.
Samsung usually starts releasing its monthly security patches early in the respective months, so perhaps we’ll get our answers next week.

The Galaxy S25 series is strong (performance-wise) in maintaining Samsung’s latest AI features, but consumers with those phones are still missing out. Like Watts notes, Sammobile noted the lack of Now Nudge and the AI-enhanced Finder app on the S25 series. My colleague Derek Lee reached out Play with the Galaxy S26 series a bit early, and Samsung’s Now Nudge deserved a brief word.
In his testing, Now Nudge reminded Derek of Google’s Magic Queue. Nudge now works by surfacing “relevant” information and relevant suggestions. A prime example Derek was shown was someone asking about a photo in a text message. Now Nudge looked at it, understood the assignment, and generated a “Share Photo” button for the user. This basically led him to a selection of photos taken in Australia, which is what the other person asked for.
It’s been a few weeks, but Galaxy S25 users (and S24) have finally received One UI 8.5. After months and months of testing and minor delays, Samsung’s patch is available for its most recent (previous generation) phones. Users are looking for a refreshed user interface, AI call screening, and more AI image editing tools.

Samsung has little (not so little) AI features like this that matter more. These utilities are AI features that help users complete tasks a little faster. These AI notifications bring more urgency and presence to alerts that you can’t miss. Furthermore, the summarization part is only helpful for longer texts. My hope is that all the AI features in the S26 will make their way to the S25. This may be too much to hope for, as perhaps the new series has the subtle capabilities to support these features.
