God’s purpose
“He brought me out into a vast place; he saved me, because he was pleased with me.” – 2 Samuel 22:20
Questioning the motives of someone’s actions can become a major reaction to those with whom we relate. Wrong intentions can result in broken relationships, poor business decisions, and falling out of God’s will. Sometimes we cannot know the other person’s motive. Unless we believe we know their intentions, it is wrong to assume what their motives are. When we react or react prematurely, we become judge and jury on them.
God has a purpose for each of His children. His desire is to bring us into a vast place. He wants us to move beyond the limits of our safety and security so that we can experience life on a level that is beyond ourselves. What do you think of when you think of a “huge place”? No limit? A big, grassy field? In the open air? These are positive images. Sometimes these vast spaces encourage us to step with confidence into areas where we have never ventured. Sometimes we need to be saved by the Lord. When Peter walked on the water, God was inviting him to a vast place. He went beyond the limits of his boat and into a whole new world. He did not have complete success in getting out, but it was a process that would lead him to the next victory in his journey of faith with Jesus. Sometimes we need failure to take us to the next level of faith in God. However, we must be willing to fail and let God save us.
The Lord is pleased with this process. His motive for his children is always love. This is to bring us to a new level of trust and dependence on Him forever.
