What’s inside us comes out of us
“A good man brings out good things from the treasure of his heart, and a bad man brings out bad things from the treasure of his heart. Because the mouth speaks only what is full in the heart.” -Luke 6:45
What are you full of? The Bible says, “The mouth speaks from the heart.” What do our words say about the condition of our hearts?
Sometimes sad things happen to us. An event occurs that takes us back to a previous negative state. Ouch, still hurting. This is an area that has not yet been addressed, perhaps an area of ​​unforgiveness. God uses our present situation to highlight what is in our hearts.
We work hard, striving to achieve whatever God has in store for us. We don’t take time to rest, our Bible study/prayer time is reduced. A co-worker asks us a question, and we step back. Immediately we realize that we are wrong – “How could I say that?” The heart is on tank “E”. We need to refuel.
Our hearts, consisting of our mind, will and emotions (soul), are the battlefield for the victory of good over evil in our lives. We always need to recognize the condition of our hearts, so that we do not become a victim of attack. After we have worked hard and given it our all, we need to allow ourselves to come to a place of refreshment. When the battle gets tough we have to allow God to come back. Otherwise, we can never be devoted to others because we are unable to fulfill ourselves.
God desires that we be filled with His Spirit, His love, peace and joy. Are you filled with heaven today?
