One person was killed and two were wounded in a shooting outside a strip mall in unincorporated Florence-Firestone early Sunday.
Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Century Station responded to a report of a gunshot victim in the 1600 block of Firestone Boulevard at approximately 1:57 a.m., the department said.
Responding deputies found two victims who had been shot while standing in the parking lot of a strip mall. A security guard working elsewhere on the block, and not at the target, was hit by a stray bullet.
A 35-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Other victims were taken to be treated for gunshot wounds. Among them, the condition of a 25-year-old youth was stable and the condition of a 27-year-old youth was critical. The statement clarified which of the victims was a security guard.
Homicide investigators working on the case did not provide any vehicle or suspect description to the public.
