It’s Sunday, May 3, which means two things: The Met Gala is in a fortnight, and the checkered flag has just been waved at yet another Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix. And while Kimi Antonelli may have taken home the first-place trophy, it was Saint Laurent who really took home the win this weekend. The French fashion brand quietly found itself everywhere in and around the Miami International Autodrome, not because of any activation or busy event, but simply because the most stylish people in town chose to wear it to the race, ranging from vintage pieces pulled from YSL’s archives to head-to-toe looks straight from the runway. As a result, the 2026 Miami Grand Prix had some of the best fashion moments I’ve seen over a race weekend, WellSometimes. Let’s join in.

On Lewis Hamilton: saint laurent windbreaker ($3200), large-fit pants ($1900), stanton derby ($1350), tie ($300), and shirt ($2200)

Before the weekend actually started, Lewis Hamilton broke out one of his best paddock fits – in my humble opinion, his best since joining Scuderia Ferrari – arriving on the track for media day in off-the-runway Saint Laurent menswear from the brand’s S/S 26 collection, which consisted of a neon-orange pullover windbreaker over the top of a matching silk shirt and burgundy tie. She paired this bold combination with pleated brown trousers and black derby. It was fast and sophisticated but playful, which Hamilton fans will tell you is rarer than in recent times. We didn’t know what we had when he wore four catwalk or custom ensembles every race weekend. Now that he’s more selective, when we see Hamilton dress up in the paddock, it’s extra special, especially when it’s the first time such an outfit has arrived.

On Hailey Bieber: vintage yves saint laurent top
On Alexandra Leclerc: frame casino top ($198) and casino capri ($198)
Later that day, Charles Leclerc’s wife Alexandra celebrated the launch of her new car Collaboration with FRAMECasa Tua is hosting an intimate dinner on Miami Beach with guests including Hailey Bieber, Kim Petras and Anastasia Karanikolaou. It was here that Saint Laurent first caught Bieber’s eye, which should come as no surprise given his longtime role as ambassador for the Parisian house. Sitting next to Leclerc, the Road founder wore a rare piece from the brand’s archives: the Yves Saint Laurent scarf top by Tom Ford from the F/W 2004 collection. It was a strong start, but wait, YSL just got better from there.

On Alexandra Leclerc: saint laurent jacket ($3400), pencil skirt ($2100), and Deroche Slingback Pumps ($1250)
On race day, despite heavy rain and storms that caused the race to start much earlier than expected, we got our last look at Saint Laurent on Alexandre Leclerc as she arrived at the track with her husband and their adorable long-haired miniature dachshund, Leo. For the occasion, Leclerc chose a look from the Spring 2026 collection, which also included a sporty windbreaker similar to Hamilton’s, but instead of trousers, she paired it with a two-tone pencil skirt and sky-high satin slingbacks in a light, peach shade of pink. Satin may not be the most practical for wet weather, but her choice for outerwear was perfect.
So, yes, Antonelli won the actual race this weekend, but from a fashion perspective, no brand had a bigger impact than Saint Laurent. In F1 terms, that’s 25 world championship points (and a lot of social-media impressions).
