(Jesus said) I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, because they are yours. Everything I have is yours, and everything you have is mine. And through them glory reached me. I am no longer in the world, but they are still in the world, and I come to you.
John 17:9-11
Jesus prays for you
“I’m praying for you.” Has anyone ever told you that? It can be an encouraging and comforting thing to have a Christian pray for you. They are asking God to help you with a problem or to bless you in a special way. It reassures you that you are not alone and that other people are thinking about you and wishing you well.
Do you know that Jesus prays for you? He gives an example of this in today’s Bible verse. The night before he died on the cross he prayed for his disciples. He acknowledged that his disciples and every believer belong to God as a child belongs to his father. He prayed for protection and strength. In this world they will have to face troubles and temptations. Many things in this world would war against their faith, but Jesus was praying to His Father for them. The unbelieving world and the forces of evil are powerful, but Jesus is bigger and stronger. He who answers prayers prays for his disciples.
We are in the world for some time. There are many problems in this world, but Jesus has overcome them. Jesus is in heaven, where he rose from the dead forty days later. Jesus still prays for strength and endurance for his followers. He prays that through sharing His words and promises, many others will come to faith and receive His glorious gifts of forgiveness and eternal life. You are not forgotten by your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The world and evil forces are powerful, but Jesus is bigger and stronger. The one who answers prayers is praying for you.
Prayer:
Lord, grant me the strength to face all those wars against my soul, and give me great hope of the glorious life that awaits beyond the troubles of this world. Amen.
