Netflix is said to be primarily interested in “royal gossip” as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are preparing a new drama series.
according to talktv host Mark Dolan, the only reason the streaming giant is interested in creating a new show with the pair is to get more royal gossip.
The journalist said the couple “need money” and were spending faster than they were saving.
The upcoming polo-themed project, co-produced by Sussex’s Archewell Productions and Fake Empire, will be set in the high-profile equestrian town of Wellington, Florida.
Discussing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s upcoming show, Dolan said, “The couple need money, they have a few million dollars in the bank, but they’re getting cashed out very quickly.”
He said, “Netflix only wants one thing and any potential publisher only wants royal gossip.”
It comes as PR expert Rene Smith said Harry and Meghan need to be clearer about what the show is promoting.
He warned the pair that trying to make an exclusive sport like polo “for everyone” could backfire.
He explained, “The key is honesty. Audiences are much more comfortable seeing wealth and privilege when it is presented exactly as it is.” Express.
The expert added, “What they don’t respond well to is being told it’s relatable or accessible when it clearly isn’t.
