Chinese site Daxiang News reported that Mr Wang had swallowed unopened pot eight years ago when he was drinking and eating alcohol. It is said that he felt initial pain but did not have any problem in breathing. Initially Mr Wang, who was an alcoholic, thought the discomfort was due to his drinking.
After some time Mr Wang began to realize something was wrong and visited doctors who suggested they could make an incision in his neck to remove the chopsticks. Worried about what would happen if it went wrong, Mr Wang declined.
Mr Wang ultimately decided to have surgery and the chopsticks were removed in early March at Dalian Municipal Central Hospital in northeastern Liaoning province. X-rays of the chopsticks reveal how he kept the large eating implement stuck in his neck for nearly a decade.

The investigation found that the metal chopstick had dug into the soft tissue around Mr Wang’s throat, but incredibly it had caused no damage to his food or breathing tubes, or his vocal cords.
The operation was successful and Mr Wang was discharged chopstick-free after several days.
Chinese social media reacted with surprise to Mr Wang’s story. One person wrote: “12cm long. Oh my god, it’s so long. How did he endure it for so long?”
Another said: “I felt pain while reading this story.”
And someone else questioned: “I wonder how he managed to swallow it?”
