Prince Harry reportedly hopes the upcoming countdown event to the Invictus Games 2027 can help rebuild his relationship with the royal family.
according to heat magazine, The Duke of Sussex is viewing his recent trip to Australia with Meghan Markle as a “dress rehearsal” for his royal return.
Harry will return to the UK this summer for a one-year countdown event before the Games in Birmingham and Meghan is expected to attend.
Speaking to the publication, an insider said the couple wanted to showcase with their trip to Australia what they could offer if allowed to support royal duties in a limited capacity.
He said, “Harry was taking this trip to be like a dress rehearsal for the royals to see what they were losing – and what they would be gaining by allowing him and Meghan to come back part-time.”
“The Invictus Games would be a perfect springboard for Harry and Meghan to return to, and there’s no reason why the royals wouldn’t lend their support to such a charity event,” the insider said.
He further shared, “Distracting an issue like Invictus would be welcome for King Charles and the monarchy, and it’s no secret that Charles is working hard on people behind the scenes to give Harry and Meghan another chance.”
“Harry has already formally contacted his father in the hope that he will open the Invictus Games when the time comes. If that happens, it would be a very public way for the Sussexes to welcome them back.”
