    TL;DR

    • New leak reveals the design and possible specifications of the upcoming ASUS Pad.
    • The leak points to a 12.2-inch dual-layer OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a 9,000mAh battery.
    • The images also show a slim design, a rear camera, and an origami-style case that also serves as a stand.

ASUS hasn’t been at the forefront of the Android tablet conversation lately, but a newly leaked device suggests it may be ready to throw something big into the mix. According to a new report, the upcoming ASUS Pad could be a worthy rival to the Galaxy Tab S11, featuring a larger OLED display, solid battery life, and a slimmer design.

Android Headlines It also shares official images of the ASUS Pad as well as some key specifications. The renders show a fairly clean-looking tablet, with thin, uniform bezels on the front, a metal frame with slightly curved edges, and a flat back panel. On the back, there’s a simple camera island in the corner that houses a single camera and an LED flash.

The report says that the tablet will feature a 12.2-inch dual-layer OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, which will definitely appeal to streaming fans. It is also said to have a 9,000mAh battery with fast charging, although there is still no information on the charging speed. Other leaked details include 6.5 mm thickness, weight of 523 grams, stereo speakers, and Dolby Atmos support.

The publication also shared photos of the tablet’s official case. It looks transparent and includes a folding stand on the back that can prop the device in a few different positions, suggesting ASUS is at least thinking about media usage and a desk-friendly view.

The chipset and RAM are missing from the all-important price and launch window as well as the partial spec sheet. There’s still a lot we don’t know, but with Samsung deciding against a Plus model in the latest Galaxy Tab S series, perhaps ASUS saw this as a gap in the Android tablet market. For now, we have an idea of the device’s features, and they’re enough to suggest that ASUS is preparing a tablet worth keeping an eye on.
