Trump said of King Charles’ upcoming visit, “He’s coming!
“We’ll have a great time.”
He added, “President Trump is insisting that the state visit will still go ahead in the wake of the @WHCA dinner shooting, but it is understood discussions are continuing between Buckingham Palace and the White House.”
Donald Trump’s comments came hours after reports that security plans for the king’s state visit were being discussed.
Earlier, the royal expert had also tweeted, “BREAKING: Following the shooting at the White House correspondents’ dinner, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said, ‘Her Majesty is being kept fully informed of the developments and is very relieved to hear that the President, First Lady and all guests are safe.’
“As you would expect, there will be a number of discussions throughout the day with US allies and our respective teams to discuss to what extent the events of Saturday evening may or may not impact operational planning for the trip.”
