He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption that occurs in the world due to evil desires.

    —2 Peter 1:4

    Thoughts on today’s verse…

God created us to be like Him in character and compassion. We are called to participate in the divine nature and we are assured that when Jesus comes we will be prepared to be like Him, and we will see Him as He is (1 John 3:1-2). Everything in our world is subject to corruption and decay. Even though our bodies are destined to decay, our living part will not perish because we are united with Jesus and waiting for the glory that will be revealed in us (Romans 8:18-23; Colossians 3:1-4). Our reaction to these “Very wonderful and precious promises” Jesus is to be followed with all our heart as our Savior and Lord.

    My prayer…

Almighty God, my everlasting fortress, thank you for giving me your great and precious promises. I desire to know you completely and to see your face in glory one day. Please save me and my heart from corruption as I eagerly await that day. With all love and appreciation, I pray this in the name of Jesus, who made me His. Amen.
