The outage left hundreds of Southern California Edison customers without power, including at the Los Angeles County Airport Courthouse, where cases were scheduled to be heard Wednesday afternoon.
Southern California Edison spokesman David Eisenhower said in an email that the outages were affecting 447 homes and businesses.
The outage began at 6 a.m. and affected a small area near the southeast corner of Los Angeles International Airport, he said, adding that power was expected to be restored by 6 p.m.
All “essential cases” scheduled for court Wednesday will be transferred to neighboring courts, including felony and misdemeanor charges, which will be held at the Torrance Courthouse, Los Angeles County Superior Court said in a statement. Everything else has been continued, the court said.
The outages come as Southern California grapples with a multi-day heat wave that has sent temperatures into the 80s and 90s across the Southland. A heat advisory is in effect for coastal LA until Friday.
