Many of my sons and daughters do not understand why I express so much happiness over my son David, when he made so many big mistakes in his life. He was a person of opposite personalities. The best way to explain my position is to show you how much I value a person’s heart. The heart tells all and David’s heart was passionate and completely focused on me. His failures came from unresolved issues in his life. As he grew up, those failures became fewer because he learned from each one. This is true for many of my sons and daughters. However, his heart was pure towards me and that’s what I loved about David. This is what excites me about all my sons and daughters who give me their whole hearts. I can’t tell you how much joy this brings me (Zeph 3:17).

Now if you walk before me in integrity and uprightness, as your father David did, and do according to all that I have commanded you, and keep my statutes and my judgments, then I will establish the throne of your kingdom over Israel forever, as I said to David your father, saying, ‘You will not forget to put a man on the throne of Israel. 1 Kings 9:4-5
