Washington DC (Worthy News) – The Pentagon is considering deploying 10,000 additional ground troops to the Middle East, according to a Wall Street Journal exclusive, a move that would significantly strengthen President Donald Trump’s position as his administration confronts the Iranian regime while keeping diplomatic options on the table.
Defense officials say the proposed deployment would include infantry and armored units, adding to the roughly 5,000 Marines and thousands of 82nd Airborne Division paratroopers already sent to the region. The buildup reflects a clear strategy: peace through strength.
“All announcements regarding troop deployments will come from the War Department,” White House deputy press secretary Anna Kelly said. “President Trump always has all military options available to him.”
Although the exact deployment locations have not been finalized, forces are expected to be deployed within striking distance of Iran, including near Kharg Island, Tehran’s key oil export terminal. Such a situation would provide the United States with the ability to respond rapidly to threats and protect global energy stability.
President Trump has made it clear that securing the Strait of Hormuz – a vital artery for the world’s oil supplies – is non-negotiable. The Administration has indicated that it is fully prepared to take unilateral action if necessary to ensure freedom of navigation and prevent Iranian interference.
US Central Command declined to comment on the plans.
Supporters of the move argue that rebuilding credible deterrence is necessary after years of what they described as weakness toward Iran’s hardline leadership. By increasing military pressure, the administration aims to deter Tehran’s aggression, protect U.S. interests, and create conditions for a more favorable diplomatic outcome.
The potential military surge underscores a broader principle taking shape under President Trump — projecting force to achieve peace, stability abroad, and leverage in negotiations with adversaries who respect power, not concessions.
