(Worthy News) – Sirens echoed across central and northern Israel on Wednesday evening as families gathered for Passover, as Iran launched a major ballistic missile barrage and Hezbollah fired rockets from Lebanon, forcing millions of people into bomb shelters during one of Judaism’s holiest nights.
Israel Defense Forces said about 10 ballistic missiles were launched toward central Israel in one of the largest Iranian attacks in recent weeks, followed by additional waves overnight. Sirens also sounded near Haifa, the Galilee and the Golan Heights as Hezbollah joined the attack from Lebanon.
Most incoming threats were intercepted, although some missiles were allowed to strike open areas as per defense protocols.
A missile carrying a cluster warhead dropped bombs on central Israel, causing damage in cities including Bnei Brak, Rosh HaAyin and Petah Tikva. According to Magen David Adom, several civilians were slightly injured, including a 12-year-old and two infants, mainly from broken glass. The condition of an 11-year-old girl, who was injured in a separate attack earlier, remains critical.
Despite the attacks, Israelis continued to observe Passover – many held Seder meals in shelters and protected spaces, showing both resilience and vigilance amid the ongoing war.
The military warned ahead of the holiday that Iran and its proxies could attempt a timely attack to disrupt the festivities. An IDF spokesman urged civilians to follow security instructions, warning, “Defense is not organized.”
Meanwhile, Israel continued its offensive, striking about 15 Iranian weapons production facilities in Tehran overnight. The IDF reported that more than 400 targets in Iran were hit using more than 650 weapons over the past two days, as part of its continuing campaign to weaken Tehran’s missile and military infrastructure.
War conditions have also significantly changed religious rituals. Authorities restricted access to Jerusalem’s holy sites, including the Western Wall, where traditional priestly blessings were held with only a small quorum instead of the usual thousands.
