    Shahid Afridi appealed to the Pakistani people to support the decisions of his government.

    With the rising price of petrol in the country, former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has asked the citizens of Pakistan to support their government and support them in these difficult times.

    Speaking in a video message amid the situation, Afridi said: “Assalamualaikum friends, I am Shahid Afridi. Because of the war, the global energy crisis that the world is facing right now, Pakistan, alhamdulillah, is still in a much better position than many countries.”

    He said, “The most important thing is to support the government and support them. As Pakistanis, we should try to follow the steps taken by the government so that there is no hindrance in the progress of the country.”

    Petrol prices in Pakistan reach all-time high

    The ongoing war between the US and other Middle Eastern countries, Israel and Iran has created a huge crisis for commercial fuel in India. This has led to massive inflation in Pakistan and many countries which are affected by it.

    In the new prices, petrol prices have increased by 42.7 percent and diesel prices have increased by 54.9 percent. The new prices for petrol and diesel were fixed at PKR 458 and PKR 520 respectively after the Government of Pakistan increased the prices by PKR 137 and PKR 184 respectively.

    “The decision taken today is that in line with the international markets, the new price will be Rs 458.40 ($1.64 per litre), which will be effective from tomorrow (Friday),” said a statement issued by Pakistani Minister Ali Pervez Malik.

    Fans criticize Shahid Afridi, calling him ‘shameless’

    While the former Pakistani captain, who has not had any specific political leanings in recent times, made the claim while focusing on collective responsibility and urged Pakistani citizens to remain cooperative and patient with government measures.

    Some have praised the Pakistani cricketer, claiming that it is good to see him taking collective responsibility for social causes; Others have claimed that he should have protested against rising fuel prices in the country. Many people have called Shahid Afridi shameless, which is worsening the everyday struggles of common people.
