Former India captain Krishnamachari Srikkanth is disappointed with the poor performance of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing Indian Premier League season. With the defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), the former champions completed their hat-trick of defeats in the current season.
Krishnamachari Srikkanth blamed CSK’s team selection for the poor result. The former cricketer pointed fingers at New Zealand fast bowler Matt Henry and said that Henry should be immediately dropped from the playing eleven.
Krishnamachari Srikkanth strongly criticizes management for relying on Matt Henry
New Zealand’s international fast bowler Matt Henry has proved to be very expensive so far. Against Royal Challengers Bangalore, he was one of the leading bowlers who conceded a lot of runs. On 5 April, Henry gave 36 runs in 3 overs without taking any wicket against RCB. If we talk about his overall performance with Chennai Super Kings so far, Henry has taken only two wickets in three matches at an average of 65 and an economy of 13.

As the bowlers are proving to be disappointing, the former India batsman suggested CSK to include Akeal Hosein in their playing combination.
Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel, “Initially their team combination is completely wrong. Anyone and everyone will say that Akeal Hosein should play. It is an obvious choice. I don’t know why they played Matt Henry. Matt Henry was unnecessary. RCB beat them. He should never play in the 11 again.”
He questioned, “How much more evidence do they need that Henry is getting trapped? I don’t understand. When it is clear that your bowling is so weak, why not play Akeal Hossein?”
Sanju Samson will have to score: Srikkanth
Srikkanth did not put all the blame on the bowlers; He also accused the batsmen of not completing the extortion money. Krishnamachari Srikkanth seemed unhappy with the bowling, team combination as well as the top order of the team. Special mention was made of former cricketer Sanju Samson who said that Samson failed miserably.
“Although we all blame the bowlers, the Chennai Super Kings batsmen also have to score eventually. Sanju Samson has to score. This is the third match in which he has failed miserably. People might say he is coming back to defend himself after a great T20 World Cup. The top-order batting and overall bowling is not performing well. So you can’t just blame the bowling when your top-order batting has been equally miserable, ” he further said in his YouTube video.
Former cricketer pointed towards poor fielding of CSK
The former captain of Team India also blamed CSK’s fielding for this.
It is worth remembering that Krishnamachari Srikkanth’s comments on Super Kings came after their clash with RCB, where Shivam Dubey dropped Virat Kohli’s catch. RCB scored 250 runs in the first innings and also achieved an easy victory.
