United States President Donald Trump has warned that the Iranian offer to end the war is not enough to avert their threat to destroy infrastructure unless Tehran reopens the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump said on Monday that the Tuesday deadline he has set for reaching a deal with Iran is final. Amid a flurry of additional threats and claims, he said the resolution would not reduce US action.

“It’s an important proposal. It’s an important step. It’s not good enough, but it’s a very important step,” Trump told reporters at the White House. He said the mediators were “negotiating right now”.
Trump warned on Sunday that if Tehran did not agree to allow free passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz by Tuesday evening, he would order attacks on Iran’s power plants and bridges.
In peacetime, about 20 percent of the world’s oil supply passes through the strategic waterway, which links the Gulf to the Indian Ocean.
Earlier on Monday, a 45-day ceasefire was proposed by Pakistan after meetings seeking a diplomatic solution to the war, which was sparked by Israeli and US strikes against Iran on February 28, which responded by firing missiles at targets across the Middle East.
Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency said Tehran expressed its response through Islamabad. Iran reportedly rejected the proposed ceasefire, instead calling for a permanent end to hostilities.
IRNA said the Iranian proposal included 10 clauses, including a cessation of conflicts in the region, a protocol for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, the removal of sanctions and reconstruction.
“We will not simply accept a ceasefire,” Mojtaba Ferdowsi Pour, the head of Iran’s diplomatic mission in Cairo, told the Associated Press news agency. “We accept the end of the war only with the guarantee that we will not be attacked again.”

The White House confirmed that a ceasefire proposal was under consideration but that Trump “did not sign” it and the war continued.
“This is one of several ideas and the POTUS (President of the United States) has not signed off on it. Operation Epic Fury is ongoing,” a White House official told AFP news agency.
Later, Trump said it was “highly unlikely” to postpone the deadline past 8 p.m. Washington time (00:00 GMT) on Tuesday. “He has plenty of time,” he said.
Trump has warned that the US could bomb Iran “back to the Stone Age” if it does not agree to a deal.
Asked whether he was concerned about suggestions to classify attacks on infrastructure as war crimes, he replied: “I’m not concerned about that.”
“You know war crimes?” He continued. “The war crime is allowing Iran to have nuclear weapons,” he said, adding that Iran’s leaders are “animals” who have killed thousands of protesters.

The National Petrochemical Company said the situation is “under control” after the strike and the extent of damage is being assessed.
“The fire has been brought under control. The situation is currently under control and technical aspects as well as the extent of the damage are being investigated,” IRNA quoted the petroleum company as saying. He said there was no report of anyone being injured.
The White House did not immediately comment on the attack.
Following the Israeli attack on South Pars in March, Trump said Israel would not attack it again, but warned that if Iran continued attacking Qatar’s energy infrastructure, the US would “massively blow up” the region.
