George Clooney is clear about his political views, especially regarding US President Donald Trump.
In his latest comments, he took a dig at him for his explosive remarks about destroying Iran’s “entire civilization” if it did not agree to a ceasefire deal.
“Some people say Donald Trump is OK. But if someone says he wants to destroy a civilization, that’s a war crime,” the actor said at an event for the Clooney Foundation for Justice.
The 64-year-old said threats to destroy civilization are not just a warning but a line that should not be crossed at any point.
He added, “You can still support the conservative viewpoint, but there has to be a line of decency, and we shouldn’t cross it.”
However, the Grammy winner isn’t the only one to object to Trump’s statements on Iran.
They also took aim at him over his alleged plan to pull out of NATO, with the president claiming that European countries are uncooperative with him over the war in the Middle East.
“I am concerned about NATO,” he shared. “It has ensured that Europe, but also the rest of the world, is safe. To dismantle such an institution worries me.”
“In addition to many mistakes, I believe the United States (with NATO) has also done many extraordinary things that have stood the test of time.”
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte will meet with Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Wednesday to iron out differences, according to multiple reports.
Meanwhile, Clooney and his wife Amal founded The Clooney Foundation for Justice in 2016, which works in 40 countries.
