JERUSALEM (WORTH NEWS) – Israel stepped up its campaign against Hezbollah on Wednesday in what officials described as the largest coordinated wave of attacks since the start of “Operation Roaring Lion,” hitting nearly 100 terrorist sites across Lebanon in just 10 minutes.
According to the Israel Defense Forces, the precision operation struck key Hezbollah headquarters, command-and-control centers and military infrastructure in Beirut, the Bekaa Valley and southern Lebanon. Targets included intelligence centers used to plan attacks against Israeli civilians and soldiers, as well as assets associated with Hezbollah’s rocket forces, naval units, the elite Radwan Force, and its Airborne Unit 127.
The IDF said the attacks were the result of several weeks of coordinated planning between its Operations Directorate, Intelligence Directorate, Air Force and Northern Command, aimed at significantly weakening Iran’s proxy network in Lebanon.
Israeli officials stressed that many of the targeted sites were deliberately placed within civilian areas, and accused Hezbollah of using the Lebanese population as human shields. The army said steps had already been taken to minimize civilian casualties.
Defense Minister Israel Katz described the operation as a “surprise attack” that killed hundreds of militants, calling it the most concentrated blow against Hezbollah since the 2024 “Pager Operation”, which seriously injured thousands of militants.
Katz praised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for maintaining a strategic distinction between Iran and Lebanon, saying the policy aims to reshape the security reality in the north and eliminate threats against Israeli communities.
He issued a stern warning to the Hezbollah leadership, specifically referencing Secretary General Naim Qassem, saying that Israel would not tolerate continued aggression and that further consequences were inevitable.
The increase comes despite a ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, which Netanyahu has clarified does not apply to Lebanon. The Israeli leadership is adamant that Hezbollah’s continued attacks eliminate any hope of restraint.
IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir confirmed that operations are continuing and are part of a broader effort to eliminate Hezbollah’s capabilities while establishing a forward defensive posture to protect Israeli border communities.
Since Hezbollah entered the conflict in support of Iran in early March, the IDF reports that it has attacked more than 3,500 targets and eliminated more than 1,000 operatives. The Iran-backed group increased its attacks and launched rockets and drones into Israeli territory after the assassination of Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei.
Israel says its operation is a necessary response to Hezbollah’s repeated violations of prior ceasefire agreements and its increasing military incursions along the northern border.
This latest operation marks a decisive shift in Israel’s position since the October 7 attacks, with leaders vowing that the country will no longer tolerate continued threats against its citizens.
