Along with Google’s recent changes to Android XR, Samsung also announced that it is bringing it Some major updates for Galaxy XR usersWhich brings more versatile enterprise tools, as well as expanded software and platform support, to the Galaxy XR.
More specifically, Samsung says it will provide up to five years of regular software updates and security patches for the Galaxy XR, which if we’re honest isn’t too bad especially for a device that isn’t as “mainstream” as some of the company’s other product lines.
For enterprise, the company says the new update will allow organizations to use the same management tools found across millions of mobile devices. This includes full support for managed and dedicated device use cases, giving IT departments control over corporate-owned deployments. For the mass rollout, the system now includes enrollment methods like Android zero-touch, QR code setup, as well as device policy controller identifier provisioning.
Meanwhile, security and application management get new updates through support for direct app installation, and administrators can now enforce hardware-level security, set password policies, and execute remote wipes to protect sensitive data. Comments from James Choi, EVP of Mobile Experience (MX) Business and head of the XR R&D team at Samsung:
Our vision for XR extends beyond hardware – it’s about building a secure, scalable ecosystem informed by our users… With Android enterprise support and ongoing platform upgrades, Galaxy XR demonstrates how real-world use cases in work, discovery, and play influence our direction.
