Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) captain Ramiz Raja made fun of former captain Misbah-ul-Haq during a recent TV interview with Peshawar Zalmi batsman Abdul Samad in PSL 2026. Samad said that his passion for cricket started after watching Misbah play the ramp shot against Team India in the 2007 World Cup final.

The young player is currently playing for Peshawar Zalmi in the domestic tournament. Samad recently impressed with the bat in the match against Karachi Kings. Peshawar Zalmi won by 159 runs at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi on Thursday. They came second in the points table.

So that you don’t play that kind of shot – Ramiz Raja roasts Misbah-ul-Haq

Ramiz Raja: Does anyone else play cricket with the family? (Does anyone else in your family play cricket?)

    Your daily dose of cricket!

    next

Samad: No nobody plays, of course. (No, no one plays at all.)

Ramiz Raja: So why did you make this mistake? (Then why did you make this mistake?)

Samad: There was passion right from the beginning and I will mention one shot that Misbah Bhai played in the 2007 World Cup. My real passion started from there when Pakistan lost that World Cup. So try me karni thi ke… (I had the passion right from the beginning, and I will mention one thing – in the 2007 World Cup, the shot that Misbah bhai played, that’s where my real interest started because Pakistan lost that World Cup. So I wanted to try it…)

Ramiz Raja: Don’t play shots like that! (laughs) (So that you don’t play that kind of shot!)

Raja: Why did you play cricket?

Abdul: I started my cricket after watching Misbah bhai’s shot against India in the 2007 final, which we lost.

Babar Azam and Kusal Mendis help Peshawar Zalmi post 246/3

Karachi Kings captain David Warner won the toss and decided to bowl first. Khushdil Shah bowled the opening over and dismissed Peshawar Zalmi opener Mohammad Haris for a duck. After this Babar Azam and Kusal Mendis took control of the National Bank Stadium.

Babar Azam and Kusal Mendis made a huge partnership of 191 runs for the second wicket, which is now the highest partnership for any wicket in PSL history. The partnership came off 97 balls, breaking the previous record of 176 runs set by Sharjeel Khan in 2021.

Mendis scored the fastest century for Peshawar Zalmi in PSL history, scoring 109 runs in 52 balls, but was dismissed by Abbas Afridi in the 17th over. He hit 14 fours and four sixes and became the first Sri Lankan to achieve this feat.

Babar remained unbeaten after scoring 87 runs in 51 balls with ten fours and two sixes. He also made a quick 49-run partnership with Abdul Samad for the fourth wicket.

Samad played a quick cameo, scoring an unbeaten 40 off just 12 balls with three fours and four sixes, helping Peshawar Zalmi post 246/3. Abbas Afridi took two wickets for 55 runs.

    Karachi Kings’ batting collapsed

While chasing the mammoth target of 247 runs, Karachi Kings suffered a massive batting collapse. David Warner, who returned from Australia, was out on zero on the very first ball. Fellow opener Mohammad Wasim was also out without opening the account.

Azam Khan top scored with 25 runs before the batting lineup collapsed. Karachi Kings were all out for just 87 runs in 16.1 overs. This is the lowest score at National Bank Stadium in the history of Pakistan Super League.

Peshawar Zalmi won by 159 runs, the largest margin of victory in the history of PSL. After this victory, they reached second place in the points table of eight teams.
