A new hero was seen in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday (April 9) night at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) young batsman Mukul Chaudhary has now emerged as one of the biggest names of this season after leading his team to a thrilling win against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Batting at number seven, Mukul Choudhary played a match-winning inning of 54 not out off 27 balls under pressure that looked almost unreal. During his brilliant innings against KKR at the Eden Gardens, he hit only two fours and seven entertaining sixes.
His innings helped Lucknow Super Giants chase down the target of 182 runs on the last ball against Kolkata Knight Riders as they registered back-to-back wins to return to the top 5 in the IPL 2026 points table on Thursday.

Mukul Chaudhary’s innings stunned Eden Gardens
Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants were chasing 182 runs, but were stuck at 128 for 7 by the 16th over. They were under a lot of pressure but Mukul, who was playing only his third IPL game, took the field without any fear and changed the whole story on his own.
He was incredible throughout his innings, but his 52 off the last 19 balls made everyone realize that they were witnessing something special at Eden Gardens. Mukul finished the match like an experienced player. After being chosen Player of the Match, he spoke openly about his fearless innings.
Mukul spoke openly about his innings and mentality
“My plan was to play till the end. I have so much confidence in myself that if I stay, I can take the team home. There is pressure, but I focus on the opportunity, not the pressure,” Mukul said in the post-match presentation, as quoted by Times of India.

On his aggressive and attacking mindset, the LSG star said, “If the ball comes to my zone, I will hit it. I have always played that way. Even if the bowler bowled four perfect balls, I knew one would come to my zone.”
Mukul Chaudhary’s inspiring journey
Mukul Chaudhary’s story makes his acting even more inspiring. He comes from Jhunjhunu, where cricket dreams usually do not get big wings due to limited facilities. Even the 21-year-old batsman from Rajasthan started playing seriously at the age of 12-13.
He trained in Sikar, moved to Jaipur and then to Gurugram to learn the modern game. The right-handed batsman revealed that playing cricket was his father’s dream. Mukul said, “My journey started even before I was born. My father had a dream that his son would play cricket.”
