Meghan Markle has landed in trouble again over her upcoming Sydney lifestyle retreat as controversy has emerged over online comments about Kate Middleton.
The Duchess of Sussex is set to host a “Her Best Life retreat” in Australia to promote her lifestyle brand As Ever, but attention has turned to social media posts from some self-identified attendees.
An insider told a US-based entertainment site that some of the individuals who previously shared scandalous claims about the Princess of Wales’s cancer diagnosis were fake.
A source told the publication, “The concern isn’t really about the concept of the event – on paper, it’s a fairly typical high-end lifestyle retreat.”
“What is troubling people is that now people are publicly associating themselves with it and claiming to be part of the guest list.
“But when someone, even slightly associated with the event, has a track record of promoting deeply offensive and unfounded claims – especially something as serious as questioning a cancer diagnosis – then it changes the way the entire project is viewed.
“It ceases to be just a wellness or branding exercise and starts attracting a very different kind of attention.
The source said such an engagement could “quickly eclipse” Meghan’s schedule, even if there is “no direct connection with Meghan or any support from her.”
“The optics alone are enough to raise questions and create uneasiness about what was supposed to be a positive, aspirational experience,” he said.
