President Donald Trump has claimed Diet Coke is healthy and could help fight cancer — while also joking that Fanta is freshly squeezed, according to Dr. Oz.
The President’s Crazy Medical Theory Was Revealed Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz, when he spoke on a podcast with Donald Trump Jr.
Oz recalled a meeting with President Trump and Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., saying: “Bobby and I usually go to meetings together…
“Then comes diet soda pop, which your dad argues is that diet soda is good for him because it kills cancer (when) it’s put on grass, therefore, it should kill cancer cells inside the body.”
There is no evidence that Diet Coke or other fizzy sodas cause cancer – in fact, the medical community agrees that the drinks are unhealthy, with some research linking the drinks to weight gain.
Oz described how Trump shows off his candy stash and summons a glass of diet soda by pressing a red button.

The doctor has campaigned with Kennedy Jr. to reduce processed foods in the American people’s diets – but it seems he hasn’t changed his boss.
Oz told Trump Jr. about his father’s comments about Fanta, saying: “We were on Air Force One the other day, and I went over there because he wanted to talk about something, and he has an orange soft drink on his desk.
“I said, ‘Are you kidding me?’
“Then he starts smiling softly.
“He says, ‘You know, this stuff is good for me, it kills cancer cells.’
“And then he says to me, ‘It’s fresh squeezed, so how bad can it be for you?'”
Despite the strange soda theory, the pair agreed that the 79-year-old president was in “perfect health.”
Trump has a love for fast food well into 2017 learned from a book that he had strayed McDonald’spizza and kentucky Fried chicken traveling across America during a promotional campaign.
“The four major food groups in Trump Force One were: McDonald’s, Kentucky Fried Chicken, pizza, and Diet Coke”, authors Corey Lewandowski and David Bossie wrote.
His typical order was: “Two Big Macs, two Filet-O-Fish, and a chocolate malted.”
Is diet soda healthy?
President Donald Trump has reportedly claimed that diet sodas are healthy because they “kill cancer cells inside the body”.
There is no evidence of this – in fact medical experts generally agree that fizzy drinks are unhealthy.
While diet sodas contain less sugar than their full-fat alternatives, and may be helpful in reducing sugar intake, they do not provide nutritional value.
Some research suggests that the beverages are linked to weight gain.
And fizzy soda can cause tooth decay regardless of sugar content due to its high acidity.
Cancer Research UK has stated that the sweeteners found in these drinks do not cause cancer, but this does not mean that they are helpful in treating the disease at all.
And the US President tried out life as a McDonald’s worker while campaigning in the Philadelphia suburbs in 2024 – a key area of the swing state.
Trump is also known for his unusual medical theories – in 2020, he suggested injecting patients with ‘disinfectants’ and destroying them with UV light to treat coronavirus.
He told a press conference: “I look at disinfectant, where it kills it in a minute, a minute, and – is there any way we can do something like that?
“By injection or almost by inhalation. As you can see, it gets into the lungs, and it has a tremendous effect on the lungs.”
Disinfectants are extremely harmful to humans.
