JD Vance makes Erica Kirk’s shock entrance at the Turning Point USA event as she cancels the major event just days after joining Trump’s administration.
On Tuesday April 14, the US Vice President revealed the reason why Charlie Kirk’s widow did not attend the event.
He noted that Turning Point USA CEO Erica canceled a highly anticipated appearance with US Vice President JD Vance after receiving ‘very serious threats’.
“Well, first of all, I love Erica and I know she had received some threats, and, you know, about two hours ago, I was a little worried that we were going to have to cancel the show because Erica wasn’t going to come and she was very worried about it,” Vance said at the beginning of the program.
“I talked to the Secret Service, and obviously these guys do a great job, and I said, ‘You know what? Let’s let Erica do what she needs to do for herself and her family,'” he continued, noting that they got a moderator to help them during the event.
The event was part of a national college tour organized by Turning Point USA, a political youth organization that promotes activism on campuses across America.
Vance indicated that he was aware of the threats against Kirk, 37, and was concerned that the University of Georgia event would be cancelled, but after consulting with the Secret Service he decided to attend.
Andrew Colvette, a spokesman for the conservative student activist group, also spoke in Athens, Ga. Charlie Kirk’s widow came forward at the event and informed the crowd as to why the grieving mother of two could not be there to interview the Vice President, who still attended the event.
“I’m going to address this right up front, Mr. Vice President, I’m here on the podium in place of our friend Erica Kirk because unfortunately she has received some very serious threats,” Colvet said.
