Quinton de Kock played a brilliant innings on his return for Mumbai Indians as he scored his third IPL century since his return to the former franchise. He has once again set the Wankhede on fire, a scene which was all too common to be seen during his prior stint with the franchise.
Mumbai Indians had to drop their most experienced batsman Rohit Sharma as he was nursing a hamstring injury, allowing Quinton de Kock to make way for him in the MI playing XI. He opened the innings with Ryan Rickelton.
Quinton de Kock gets standing ovation for century on his return
The South African legend was struggling with his poor form in the last two seasons of the IPL and hence was ignored by the major teams in this mini-auction, but his former franchise, Mumbai Indians took note of his international comeback for the Proteas.
QDK continued his fine form in T20 franchise cricket in the SA20 as he played some fine innings against India in the bilateral matches, and also scored runs in the ICC T20 World Cup.
He made a comeback for Mumbai Indians and started his innings with a brilliant six over the extra cover boundary. It seemed like this was an early glimpse of things to come for Mumbai Indians. He played an excellent innings without giving a single chance to the PBKS bowlers and scored his third century in the IPL.
He remained unbeaten and was the top scorer for Mumbai Indians with 112 runs and helped MI score 195 runs at the end of 20 overs.
