This attack has been made amid reaction to a controversial social media post of the US President.
An Iranian embassy has shared an AI-generated video showing Jesus putting Donald Trump in hell, following a backlash over a social media post in which the US President appeared to portray himself as a Christ-like healer.
Trump posted the image on Truth Social on Sunday, but removed it the next day after a wave of criticism, saying he did not recognize its religious implications. It was originally published in February, when author Nick Adams shared it with the caption: “America has been sick for a long time. President Trump is healing this country.” Trump’s version was slightly modified.
On Tuesday, the Iranian Embassy in Tajikistan posted a clip that opens from the image posted by Trump. The glow from his hands fades as Jesus descends from heaven, slaps his face, and causes him to fall into the abyss of fire.
The video was already circulating online before it was reposted by the Iranian Embassy, and similar interpretations had appeared elsewhere. Various reactions to the ‘Healer’ image depict Jesus angrily expelling Trump from the Jerusalem temple as a ‘money-maker’, repeating a famous story from the Gospels…
…or just punch him.
Critics of Trump have expanded on this concept, using AI tools to generate several scenarios in which the defector violently intervenes in the president’s life.
The controversy occurred when Trump criticized Pope Leo and accused him of “Weak on crime, and terrible at foreign policy” – Comments that strained relations with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The normally pro-European leader described the comments as unacceptable.
