As Brentford vs Fulham gets into full swing, there are growing concerns at the latter club, according to reports, that their top player, Harry Wilson, could be headed away.
Insiders tell The Paper that the star winger – who has had a stellar season, scoring 11 goals – is halfway through an exit for two main reasons.
Firstly, Fulham’s prize asset is looking for a place closer to home, i.e. Wales, and their team is based in London – despite a tempting offer by the club.
A source alleged, “The club have made Harry a significant offer but it appears he is leaning towards a move closer to the North-West, where he lives.”
The second reason is the possible departure of the club’s manager Marco Silva, whose contract expires in June.
While talks are ongoing between the management and the former Portuguese player, uncertainty remains.
“A lot for them also depends on Marco’s chances of staying, so the club are trying to do something forceful there,” the source claimed, as Wilson’s deal is also set to expire.
“Harry has had his best season so far, especially after having a more regular impact as a substitute. He is the player Marco really trusts, so a lot will depend on the manager.”
At the moment Brentford and Fulham are giving their best shot at the other team’s goalpost. Being five places behind their rivals in the rankings, Fulham are under pressure to win their next five out of six games to secure a place in the UEFA Champions League.
