This may shock some of my fellow editors, but I don’t currently own a pair of high heels. As far back as I can remember, I haven’t had problems with pain in my feet, especially living in New York, where I do a lot of walking.
Ironically, I don’t even wear sneakers outside the gym. Given this, I’ve spent a lot of time figuring out how to find shoes that look cute and put together, but are still comfortable. Somewhere along the way, this became a “rule” that I never consciously made, but always follow: I check the heel height and make sure it’s two inches or less.
there are obvious solutions Ballet flats and kitten heels are where I feel most like myself, but when it’s hot outside I wear Mary Janes, knee-high boots, low-heeled pumps, loafers, and sometimes even flip-flops.
Below, shop shoes in sizes two inches and under from Camper, Gimaguas, Margaux, Miu Miu, Prada, Repetto, Vagabond, and other brands.
Ballet flats
kitten heel sandals
As far as kitten heels go, I have a pair of Studio Amelia on the way, and I love my Stuart Weitzman Minimalist Slide 50 Sandal. Of course, I can’t forget the Manolo Blahnik and archival pairs Even Prada or Miu Miu.
low-heel pumps
For a low-heeled pump, Ferragamo’s Vara Soft Pump has been one of my favorites for ages. High vamp pumps have been everywhere lately, so they feel like the shoe of spring. Many of our editors either have it or want The Reformation Inez Pump, which looks similar to the $990 Phoebe Philo Club Slipper.
Movable Mary Janes
I like the sneaker option for walking extra long days, and I prefer what I call a “walkable Mary Jane.” I’ve been eyeing campers’ mesh Mary Janes, but for a non-Mary Jane option, I’ve saved up the vintage Cole Haan Nike Air collaborations, which you can usually find on eBay.
knee high boots
for knee high Shoes, I’m loyal to my Vagabond Blanca pair and Frye Campus shoes.
loafers
flip flop
i have a pair too Havaianas slim flip-flops on hand to throw on.
