After saying that she wanted to help families be together in their final moments, she described the work of a death doula as “really fascinating.”

“It’s very beautiful, and you have to be a certain personality to be able to do it,” Kidman said, “but I discovered that I really am that personality. It’s very important to me. There’s always sadness, but if there are people who can help with that, help make those last steps less painful – if you feel the connection in your heart, that’s beautiful. So that’s what I’m looking for.”
Kidman shared her thoughts on the practice after reflecting on her mother’s death, which coincided with her being honored at the Venice Film Festival in September 2024. “This seems to be a common theme in my life.”
“I was about to go on stage, and I found out my mother had died. I immediately went back to Venice’s room, lay down on the bed and was completely devastated,” she recalled.
Nicole Kidman revealed that she didn’t know how to act or move on, because her mother was “a huge part of my existence, so the idea of not being there at that particular moment was excruciating.”
