develop a bold attitude
“As for my heartfelt hope and expectation, that I will not be put to shame in anything, but with full boldness, as always, even now Christ will be glorified in my body, whether by life, or by death.” -Philippians 1:20
I love how God empowers us in the Bible. Proverbs 28:1 states that the godly are as bold as a lion. We are called to live courageous lives using the gifts and talents God has given us, glorifying Him through our love and our actions.
Boldness, as defined by Webster, means “showing or requiring fearless, intrepid, or fearless courageous spirit before danger.” (Webster’s online dictionary.) It does not mean arrogant, defiant, obnoxious, or egoistic. Courage and humility go together. Courage hidden in humility knows why it is courageous – because of faith in Jesus Christ and the assurance of complete salvation, that apart from Him, we can do nothing.
It wasn’t until a few years after recommitting my life to Jesus that I realized that being timid was actually a character flaw. You cannot be all that God has called you to be without being bold. God created all the colors of the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky and the rest of His creation. And we are called to be just as courageous and just as bright.
The world needs us to be living examples of the color, life and love of Jesus. Do you have the courage to live boldly?
