Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival has been hit with a hefty fine.
Music festival promoter Goldenvoice has been fined $44,000, after Justin Bieber and Anima performed during the city’s strict curfew on the festival’s second weekend.
City officials have revealed that the set of Bieber and Anima was overcrowded beyond the 1:00 am curfew.
While Enema’s set time exceeded nine minutes, resulting in a $24,000 fine, Bieber’s headline performance exceeded the limit by two minutes, resulting in a $20,000 fine.
However, this is not the first time Coachella has had a problem with a curfew, in 2009, Goldenvoice paid a $54,000 fine after Paul McCartney took over 54 minutes.
Additionally, the promoter spent over $168,000 in fines in 2023 following curfew times for Bad Bunny, The Weeknd, Skrillex, Fred Again, Frank Ocean and Four Tet.
And in 2025, the festival was fined $20,000 after Travis Scott left three minutes before curfew.
Despite all this, Coachella’s second weekend continued to draw huge crowds.
The second week of Coachella, held from April 17 to April 19, saw the return of Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber and Karol G as primary headliners. However, major additions included Kacey Musgraves, Anima, Razz and more.
