Prince Harry met with members of the Ukrainian team from the Invictus Games during his visit to the country.
In a social media post shared by the Invictus Games’ social media pages, the Duke of Sussex praised their resilience and reaffirmed their continued support for rehabilitation, sporting initiatives and recovery programs for war-affected veterans.
An Instagram post featuring five photos of Harry’s visit was shared with the caption, “It has been wonderful to reconnect with members of the Ukrainian Invictus community like Yulia ‘Tayra’ Paveska, Oleksandr Budko and Sem Lahun during our time in Ukraine.”
“Olexandr, Sem and Taira were members of Team Ukraine at the Invictus Games Düsseldorf 2023, Taira’s story was famously captured in our Netflix series ‘Heart of Invictus’.”
“Our support of the Invictus community goes beyond sports and we are proud to provide funding to Ukraine for sports initiatives, equipment, research and more through our signature program.”
Harry made an unannounced visit to Kiev on Thursday to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on ending the war and the United States. President Donald Trump must show leadership to help resolve the conflict.
By tradition, the British royal family does not speak out on political matters, although King Charles and other senior royals have regularly expressed their support for Ukraine, according to the Reuters news agency.
But Harry, on his third visit to the country since the war began, used far more blunt language than any of his relatives.
