The FCDO has updated its travel advice for Mali, urging people not to travel to the African country after reports of “coordinated attacks” emerged.
The updated warning comes after “attacks that took place on April 25 in several locations in Mali,” the FCDO said, which also mentioned a blockade imposed by a terrorist group.
The warning also said: “The terrorist group Jama’a Nusrat ul-Islam wa al-Muslimeen (JNIM) has imposed a blockade of major routes throughout southern and western Mali, including the capital Bamako.
“These blockades are targeting fuel trucks and implementing checkpoints for individuals trying to pass through them. “Attacks can happen at any time. “The risk of kidnapping and criminal activity remains high throughout Mali, including the capital Bamako.”
