Rohit Sharma is in line to play against Sunrisers Hyderabad. After this, Mumbai Indians are scheduled to face SRH on April 29. According to Cricbuzz, the former captain is working hard to make a comeback.
Rohit Sharma has not been able to play three consecutive matches due to a hamstring injury suffered during the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Since April 12, the veteran opener has been ruled out of IPL 2026. Due to injury, he missed the matches against Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings.
Rohit Sharma could not play three consecutive matches due to hamstring injury
Earlier it was believed that Rohit Sharma might miss one or two matches, but he missed three matches. In the previous game, which was against Chennai Super Kings, MI lost by 103 runs at the Wankhede Stadium. In place of Rohit, the management made an opening pair with Quinton de Kock and uncapped Indian batsman Danish Malewar, which did not work.
“However, it is now understood that Rohit is on the road to recovery and should be available for the April 29 match. Sources indicate that he has been working on his fitness with MI trainers and coaches, and there is a growing sense of optimism within the team management. Rohit has been working hard in the middle to regain full fitness,” Cricbuzz said in its report.

Mumbai Indians players get some time to refresh themselves
It further added, “MI players have had a few days off. The team has left for Jamnagar for a bonding session and will return on Sunday before resuming practice ahead of next Wednesday’s match.”
The defeat against arch-rival CSK proved costly for the team. But Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene did not want to disappoint the team. After the match, the Sri Lankan legend wished to win all the remaining seven matches to keep themselves in the title race.
Rohit Sharma has shown a good game so far
Mumbai Indians head coach said after the CSK match, “I think if we play our best cricket, we have a very good chance, but the confidence, focus and discipline have to be there for the next seven matches. Well, I don’t know yet whether we need to win all seven matches or not, but obviously, starting out, I would like to do that – but let’s see how the tournament goes.”
To win the match, the team has to field its strongest possible combination. The return of Rohit Sharma will definitely increase his batting strength. At one point in the current Indian Premier League, the opening batsman also had the Orange Cap. With one half-century so far, Sharma has scored 137 runs at a strike rate of 165.
MI will face Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium before returning with Chennai Super Kings to take on Mumbai.
