Rajasthan Royals (RR) suffered an injury blow when their explosive opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi left the field with a right leg injury. Initially it seemed like it was a hamstring injury. How serious was Suryavanshi’s injury? RR batting coach Vikram Rathore provided an initial update on the matter.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi had to leave the field with the help of the team physio. The incident occurred during the early stages of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) innings. The 15-year-old player felt uncomfortable while trying to chase the ball.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi got injured in the second innings of the match.
A high stroke from SRH batsman Ishan Kishan guided the ball over the cover region. The RR fielder held his right thigh due to pain while running to stop the ball. Due to pain, Vaibhav Suryavanshi immediately lay down on his back on the ground.
Teammates immediately came to check the young player, the physio also reached the spot. The temperature at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur was very high and humid, making the conditions difficult for the players. In the first innings, Vaibhav spent a lot of time at the crease, then in the second innings he came out for fielding.
Was it a hamstring injury?
There were fears that the RR player might have suffered a hamstring injury. But it can also cause severe muscle cramps. After the match, Rajasthan Royals RR batting coach Vikram Rathod gave information about the condition of Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He said that the situation does not seem so serious that there is a need to worry. However, we will have to wait for a day to know them in detail.
“He was feeling something in his hamstring, but now he looks fine. They have treated him, so he looks fine. Will know in a day or two, but it doesn’t look like anything serious,” RR batting coach Vikram Rathore told PTI.
On Sunday (April 25), the budding talent scored a record-breaking century against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He also hit a six on Pat Cummins. He eventually scored 103 runs in 37 balls after completing his half-century in 15 balls. Vaibhav’s innings was decorated with twelve sixes and five fours and during this his strike rate was 278.38.
Suryavanshi’s century went in vain
Batting first, the home team, Rajasthan Royals scored 228 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs, which SRH easily achieved on the back of explosive innings from Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma. SRH needed only 18.3 overs to chase the total.
After the match, SRH moved to third place in the IPL 2026 points table, and RR slipped to fourth place. After the match, Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins said that it was a pleasure to see Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s explosive batting style from the front.
