President Donald Trump was escorted out of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner Saturday night after multiple gunshots were heard in the ballroom.
At least five gunshots were heard at the event held at the Washington Hilton Hotel. Several minutes after Weija Jiang, president of the White House Correspondents’ Association, delivered remarks, the ballroom began to buzz as attendees ate their first courses.
Trump, who was sitting at the front of the ballroom next to First Lady Melania Trump, was immediately surrounded by guards, while many attendees hid under their tables.
