New information about the true successor to Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate Edition tri-fold smartphone has emerged online. The device is said to be called Mate XT2 and is expected to come with several upgrades over the Mate XT from 2024 as well as the recently launched Mate XT.
According to a tipster on Weibo, Huawei is expected to unveil the Mate XT2 alongside the Mate 90 series in October this year. The device is said to be powered by the Kirin 9050 Pro chipset. For reference, the Mate XT included the Kirin 9020, while the original Mate XT was equipped with the Kirin 9010.

The tipster also claims that the upcoming tri-fold smartphone could have a battery with a capacity of more than 6,000mAh.
In terms of camera, it is said to feature a similar setup to the Huawei Mate X7 that launched in November last year with a 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens, and a 40MP ultrawide camera.
The Huawei Mate XT2 also features an upgraded hinge designed to significantly reduce the display crease. It is further said that it supports stylus input.
