What you need to know
- Spotify has announced it’s expanding into fitness, bringing a dedicated hub for free and premium users.
- The hub will offer guided workouts, yoga classes and more from established wellness creators.
- Premium users will enjoy additional benefits from Spotify’s partnership with Peloton in “supported markets.”
Playing your earbuds during a workout is probably second nature to most users, but now Spotify wants to do more with guided workouts.
A press release this week shared Spotify’s new ambitions to move into the fitness world in a way that felt reasonable and clear. The company says this new fitness category will “offer guided workout experiences on Spotify, bringing fitness into the same ecosystem as music, podcasts, audiobooks, and video.” According to its data, Spotify says that “nearly 70% of Premium users workout monthly,” and there are more than 150 million fitness playlists “active globally.”
There is a strong interest in vibes when we are working out. To do this, free and premium users will have access to a selection of “curated playlists as well as content from established wellness creators.” Spotify is leaning on yoga with its fitness intros with Cassandra, Sweaty Studio, Chloe Ting, Pilates Body by Raven, and more.

Additionally, premium users are gaining support for a recognizable brand: Peloton. Through this partnership, users will have access to 1,400 ad-free on-demand workout classes “as part of their existing subscription.” Spotify emphasizes that users won’t need any additional equipment to connect to Peloton’s workouts for cardio, strength, yoga, and more.
It’s worth noting that not everyone will be able to watch these Peloton workouts. Spotify says this is only being implemented in supported markets. Once it arrives, users should proceed Spotify > Search: Fitness To access the new hub.
Earbuds are on, Spotify fitness is on
What’s interesting about Spotify’s expansion into fitness is that users are using the platform for heart-pounding emotions. The company says that since the introduction of prompted playlists, it has seen “increasing demand” for this type of content. Fitness and workout content is reportedly “ranking among the top use cases” for inspired playlists.
Android Central’s Tech
I never thought I would find proper fitness support on Spotify. I’m like everyone else, I just make or find a good workout playlist and work on it. Now, the platform is offering a dedicated hub for workouts, and partnering with Peloton for exercises that can really motivate you and make this glow brighter. Maybe I’ll have to give it a try.
