US President Donald Trump has said he is in contact with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as efforts continue to resolve the war in Ukraine.
Speaking to Fox News, Trump said, “We are working on the situation with Russia, Russia and Ukraine, and hopefully we will get it done.”
“I have conversations with him, and I have conversations with President Zelensky, and good conversations,” he said, but he did not say when the discussions took place.
Trump also highlighted tensions between the two leaders, saying: “The hatred between President Putin and President Zelensky is ridiculous. It’s crazy. And hatred is a bad thing. Hate is a bad thing when you’re trying to resolve something, but it will happen.”
The comments come as the conflict that began with Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 continues for another year.
Trump previously promised to end the war, although no agreement has yet been reached.
Officials have not confirmed details of any recent negotiations, and the situation on the ground remains uncertain.
