This: Welcome to Derry Creator Andy Muschietti has shared an exciting update about the upcoming season.
In a new interview with deadlineThe 52-year-old filmmaker revealed that he and his team are currently working on season two of the horror series.
“It’s 1935 — we’re working on it now, and it’s so much fun,” Andy told the outlet. “For those of you who read the books, the Bradley Gang probably sounds familiar. The Bradley Gang was a gang of bank robbers – not coincidentally, but they were on their way somewhere and they stopped at a dairy to buy some gunpowder and something terrible happened.”
He added, “Bradley Gang is based on the Brady Gang, a gang of robbers in real life who were massacred on the streets of Bangor, Maine. And now we’re not making the case that the big example of violence in this case would be the massacre of the Bradley Gang.”
Andy added, “Welcome to Derry Season 1 will have three big events… and Season 3 will feature the explosion at the Kitchener Iron Works, which is a massive explosion during an Easter egg hunt that took the lives of a hundred children.”
“It’s always moving around, so that’s all I can tell you,” he explained. “It’s interesting because the thing that’s so interesting about this stage of evolution is that we’re facing an era that is the Depression era that dramatically changes the order of things.”
“There’s no suburban comfort — kids who live in suburbia and they ride their bikes and suddenly one of them disappears, there’s nothing like that. This is in 1935. It’s a very dire situation. People are very poor. They’re struggling to survive, so the setup would be very different,” the filmmaker said.
However, the release date of the upcoming season has not been revealed yet.
