Arjun Tendulkar is all set to try his luck in the player auction for the upcoming Mumbai T20 League. Despite representing Goa in domestic cricket, the seam bowling all-rounder is eligible for entry into the auction pool.
Currently, Arjun Tendulkar is with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for the ongoing IPL 2026 season. He joined the franchise ahead of the IPL 2026 season. Due to lack of game time during his stint with Mumbai Indians (MI), Arjun Tendulkar shifted his IPL base to Lucknow.
The 26-year-old bowler-batsman is originally from Mumbai, but has been representing Goa in domestic tournaments to get regular opportunities. The son of the great Sachin Tendulkar also left Mumbai Indians for the betterment of his professional cricket career. However, he is yet to play his first match for Lucknow Super Giants in the current season.
Arjun Tendulkar will have the highest price in the auction
According to the Times of India report, being a Ranji Trophy player, Arjun will enter the Mumbai T20 League auction with the highest base price of Rs 5 lakh. The auction of players is to be held on May 2.
As per Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) orders, a player, who is originally from Mumbai but represents a different organisation, is required to have a cooling off period of one year before submitting his name in the franchise league auction. But in Arjun’s case, the rule will not apply as he did not participate in the T20 leagues of his respective states.
Why will BCCI’s rule not apply to Arjun Tendulkar?
According to the BCCI guidelines, “To maintain focus and prevent overexertion, each player is permitted to participate in only one officially recognized cricket league, except the Indian Premier League (IPL), during the 12 months beginning from the conclusion of the tournament in which he last participated.”
“Since they did not participate in the T20 league organized by their respective teams’ association, as per BCCI rules, they are eligible to participate in the T20 Mumbai League,” MCA secretary Unmesh Khanwilkar told the media house on Wednesday.
Along with Arjun Tendulkar, another Mumbai-born Siddharth Adhatrao, who played for Pondicherry in domestic cricket in recent times, has also been allowed to be a part of the upcoming Mumbai T20 League auction.
MCA Secretary further informed that Siddharth is going back to Mumbai. Siddharth Adhatrao said, “I just want to enjoy Mumbai cricket, be it first-class, T20 Mumbai or field cricket.”
Many stars are ready to join the T20 league
It has been officially announced that the fourth season of the Regional Franchise League is all set to make a blockbuster return with the auction taking place on May 2, 2026.
It includes top stars like Suryakumar Yadav (Triumph Knights), Shreyas Iyer (SOBO Mumbai Falcons), Shivam Dubey (ARCS Andheri), Yashasvi Jaiswal (Bandra Blasters) and Sarfaraz Khan (Aakash Tigers). Last season, Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals claimed the crown by defeating Shreyas Iyer-led Mumbai Falcons at the Wankhede Stadium.
