ICYMI, Chanel recently launched its Cruise 26/27 collection in the seaside town of Biarritz on the Basque coast. It’s a long way from the brand’s Paris headquarters, but it has deep historical significance. Gabrielle Chanel chose Biarritz to open her couture house in 1915. Now, 111 years later, Matthew Blazey used it as the backdrop for his first Cruise collection.
Using sun, sea and sand as motifs, Chanel sent models down the runway wearing silk foulards, “swirling” raffia skirts and cotton-canvas suits. The beauty look wasn’t far behind — think dewy, sun-kissed skin, windswept hair, and shimmering, mermaid-inspired manicures.
The latter were particularly surprising. nail artist ama queshi Six dégradé colorways were designed, ranging from cool nautical blues to sandy yellow and solar red. Although specific shades haven’t been released, Quashie told Who What Wear that the key to the look is “finding colors that work as well as blend into each other without clashing.” We have a feeling this has kicked off a major summer manicure trend.
