During their time in the United States, King Charles and Queen Camilla arrived in New York on Wednesday to commemorate the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The King and Queen paid their respects at the 9/11 Memorial, honoring the lives of the victims of September 11, 2001.
Buckingham Palace released a video clip of Charles and Camilla’s visit via the royal family’s official Instagram handle. In the video, Their Majesties placed bouquets of flowers at the memorial, where waterfall-ringed reflecting pools mark the footprints of the World Trade Center’s twin towers.
The post’s caption reads, “Today in New York, the King and Queen pay their respects at the 9/11 memorial.”
“During their time at the site, Their Majesties honored the lives lost during the attacks, and recognized the courage of the men and women involved in the rescue efforts,” it added, adding, “This year marks the 25th anniversary of the attacks.”
Specifically, the note on the flowers in King Charles’s handwriting read: “We honor the memory of all those who tragically lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and stand in solidarity with the American people in the face of such a profound loss. Charles R. Camilla R.”
It is pertinent to mention that King Charles and Queen Camilla’s visit, part of their four-day state visit to the US, is coming after they addressed the US Congress in Washington on Tuesday, held a private meeting with Donald Trump and sat down with US tech industry leaders.
